Embracing the Endless Northern Michigan Summer!
Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! Today marks the longest day of the year, and nowhere does that feel more magical than here in northern Michigan. As the northwesternmost point in the Eastern Time Zone, we're blessed with an extraordinary gift: sunsets that linger, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink well past 10 PM. It’s a phenomenon that stretches our days, inviting us to savor every precious moment of summer.
And oh, what moments they are! Our days here are filled with the pure joy of being outdoors. From exhilarating days spent boating on the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan or one of our many inland lakes, to exploring miles of winding trails through fragrant forests – every turn offers a new adventure. There’s the quiet contemplation found while hiking along a sun-dappled path, the thrill of discovering a hidden cove, and the simple pleasure of a lakeside picnic.
Summer in northern Michigan also tantalizes the senses in a unique way. Imagine the sweet scent of sun-warmed pine needles, the fresh, clean aroma of the lake breeze, the delicate perfume of wild berries ripening in the sun, and the earthy richness after a brief summer shower. These are the smells that evoke a profound sense of place and peace.
It's these very essences, these unforgettable olfactory memories of our Great Lakes summers, that inspire my all-natural perfume collections. Each blend is a heartfelt tribute to the natural beauty that surrounds us – an attempt to bottle the feeling of a perfect lake day or night.
So, as the sun dips slowly below the horizon tonight, take a moment. Breathe in the lingering light, the fresh air, and the promise of endless summer days ahead. What will you discover in this extended light? How will these long, golden hours inspire your summer?
